Seeds of creativity, a handmade Jewish journey
Rimon Workshops offer ways to explore personal meaning in Jewish texts through hands-on art. No art experience is needed — the text itself sparks the inspiration. Participants leave with a renewed sense of self, creative expression, connection, and community.
Every workshop includes text exploration, conversation, art making, and reflection — shaped to fit different groups and occasions.
Explore Jewish texts, rituals, holidays, or world happenings — discovering seeds of meaning through art making, building personal connection and community along the way.
Explore a text, discuss values, and create together.
Built for professional staff, bringing the practice back into the organization, school, or classroom.
A personal session to create meaning for life cycle events or special occasions.
Sheva Locke has spent a career in Jewish education and creative arts as a Head of Jewish Day School and a community leader in professional development. Through Rimon Workshops, she draws on her training in Handmade Midrash, the Jewish Studio Project, and Maayan Tefillah to help others find meaning through text study and art making.
She has brought this text-and-art process into communal settings, schools, havurot, family camps, and home gatherings. Sheva has seen firsthand how much can surface when people are given the opportunity to make something personal. Time and again, she has watched the joy and meaning grow from those seeds of creativity.
Rimon is the Hebrew word for pomegranate, a symbol of growth, creativity, and fruitfulness. Its sweet seeds are said to number 613 — the same as the mitzvot in the Torah — inspiring learning and partnership in creation through making and doing. As one of the seven species of Israel, the pomegranate also links us to the Land, our history, and the Jewish people. Its abundance of seeds is a reminder that our own potential for creativity and connection is boundless.
I didn't think I had anything to say about that text — and then I looked down and my hands had already answered.
We've done a lot of staff trainings. This is the one people still bring up a year later.
My kids and I made two completely different pieces from the same text. We're still talking about why.
